Activities, tourism and gastronomy near Paliseul

There are various good gastronomic restaurants in Paliseul,
where the poet Paul Verlaine used to stay, such as
La Table de Maxime, Au Gastronome, La Hutte Lurette,
there are also cheaper options such as Pizzeria La Casa
which serves good food.

The castle of the crusader Godefrey in Bouillon is worth
a visit. Other attractions include kayaking or watercycling
on the Semois, karting or enjoying a pleasant stroll along
the water and watching people whilst enjoying a beer from
the region on one of the cafe terraces.

Visit the small town of Bertrix where you can do some shopping
and visit a schist mine. You can go underground by a 25m
stairway and learn more about the land use of schist
and the life of the minors.

In Rochehaut take the little train to the animal park
and do the spectacular stairway walk ‘Les Echelles’.

In Botassart there is a beautiful view of the ‘Tomb of the Giant’,
a hill in a bend of the Semois, where according to the legend
a Gaulish giant is burried.

Visit Redu, the village of books, and find that one book
you have always been looking for.

Visit the Euro Space Center nearby in Transinne and discover
the magical world of space and astronauts.

Just over the French border you can climb the seven floor castle
in Sedan or drive a bit further along to the historic town
Charleville-Mézières, the birth place of the poet Arthur Rimbaud
and known as the town of marionettes.
